Healthy Schools

The Ontario Healthy Schools Coalition defines healthy schools as:

Schools where principals, teachers, students, parents/guardians, and community agencies work together to ensure that students receive:

  • health and physical education,
  • access to health and other needed services,
  • a health-promoting social and physical environment.

Healthy schools emphasize increased student involvement and action around health issues and the creation of healthy policies at all levels (provincial ministries, school boards and local schools).
